Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
